VSIA is a worldwide organization with strong representation
from Europe, the United States, Asia Pacific and other regions.
The VSI Alliance is structured as an open organization, encouraging
the membership and active participation of representatives
from all segments of the system-chip industry, including systems,
semiconductor, Intellectual Property (IP) and EDA companies.
Membership is well distributed among the four industry segments.
Related organizations can also become members. Business units
of a single company can have separate memberships.
The Board of Directors determines the goals of the Alliance, approves and reviews budgets, oversees the work of the VSI Alliance including Pillar activity, marketing and administration. The Board meets monthly, elects a president, secretary and treasurer annually. The President leads the Board meetings and guides the policy and direction of the organization. An Executive Director reports to the Board and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Alliance, along with staff supervision.
VSIA has partitioned the technical problems it addresses into
specific focus areas, which are then addressed in parallel
by separate Pillars. Creation of a Pillar requires committed
interest from at least four large industry companies. Each
Pillar addresses both technical and commercial solutions to
IP integration and reuse. Pillars are open to worldwide membership,
and meetings are conducted both face-to-face and by teleconference.
Each Pillar develops its own specifications and schedule.
